St Kilian’s Community School               Transition Year (TY) 2015-2016

The following is a summary of some of the principal dates and activities for Transition Year students. Other events, activities and key dates will be added as the school year progresses.

Note 1:           ** Work Experience:           

            Before their return to school, TY students must organise their two sessions of Work          Experience for the coming year. Details must be given, on the form provided, to the       TY Coordinator, Mr Lawless, on Friday, August 28th.

Note 2:           Activities marked with a single asterisk (*) above:

  • The Overnight Retreat costs approximately €80.
  • The Adventure Centre trip costs approximately €45.
  • The cost of both of these trips is covered in full by the €220 TY Fee paid when registering for TY 2015-2016.
  • Students who have not paid the €220 TY Fee will have to pay for these activities in full.
  • Not all activities are fully funded by the fee. Students may incur some costs relating to these activities.

 (A) Core Curriculum – followed by all students

  • Maths, English, Irish
  • RE, PE, Personal Development, Work Preparation, Music/Choir, IT

 

(B) Optional Academic Subjects – students have already selected their subjects.

      Students will continue with four Option subjects for Leaving Certificate.
